But if you are one of the unlucky 30% who experience severe symptoms, this midlife phase can be frustrating, difficult and leave you feeling out of control of your body - and mind.
While every woman’s experience of menopause is unique, there is one thing we all need - support. Whether you are looking for tips to improve your diet and lifestyle during ‘the change’, or you need support to help understand more about HRT, something many of us will find useful is having resources and support at our fingertips, when we need it. The right information, the right voices, and a community that “gets it” can make all the difference.
That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the most trusted resources out there. From warm, welcoming communities to evidence-based websites and experts who tell it like it is, here are ten brilliant places to turn when you’re navigating this chapter of life.
1. Jude and Friends
Let’s start at home. Jude and Friends is your safe space to talk openly about everything from bladder leaks and urgency, to menopause and well, just life in general. It’s a welcoming community where you can ask “is it just me?” questions, swap experiences, and hear from brilliant experts who cut through the noise with real, evidence-based advice. Most of all, it’s a place where you’ll never feel alone in what you’re going through. Jude’s blog is also a rich resource for those of us navigating bladder health issues through menopause.
2. The Motherload
If you’re juggling the chaos of family life alongside hot flushes, mood swings or brain fog, The Motherload Facebook Community offers an open, supportive environment to connect with other women navigating the “messy middle” where motherhood meets perimenopause. This large UK-based community is a rich source of peer-led support. Expect honest conversations, solidarity and the odd much-needed laugh in between the serious chats. Their website, The Motherload, shares ‘edu-torial’ articles that offer relatable advice and support - as well as experiences from women like you.
3. Balance Menopause & the Balance app
Created by GP and menopause specialist Dr Louise Newson, Balance is one of the most comprehensive menopause resources available. The website is packed with trusted information on perimenopause, menopause and HRT. The free Balance app lets you track your symptoms, access a personalised health report, and connect with a supportive community.
4. The Menopause Charity
Founded to improve education and access to care, The Menopause Charity provides reliable resources, campaigns for better healthcare, and is working towards a menopause helpline. Their campaigns influence policy and have raised national awareness.
5. Menopause Support (Diane Danzebrink)
Run by campaigner and psychotherapist Diane Danzebrink, Menopause Support offers evidence-based information, free resources like the “Make Menopause Matter” checklist, and training for workplaces and families. Diane’s advocacy is tireless, and her community is a reassuring place to start.
6. Women’s Health Concern & The British Menopause Society
The patient arm of the British Menopause Society, Women’s Health Concern offers clear fact sheets on symptoms, treatments and lifestyle changes. They also run an email advice service, which can be a lifeline if you’re struggling to get answers from your GP.
For those who want a deeper dive into the medical side, the British Menopause Society is the professional body for healthcare providers. Their website has guidance documents, research updates and—most usefully—a directory of menopause clinics across the UK.
7. Menopause Matters
A long-established, evidence-based resource, Menopause Matters offers an informative website and quarterly magazine. You’ll find everything from HRT guidance to lifestyle advice, as well as a history of advocacy that’s helped shape the national menopause conversation and their magazine is not only a useful resource, but a great read, too.
8. Liz Earle Wellbeing
Our good friend, Liz Earle, has created a brilliant hub of practical advice, recipes, and podcasts covering all aspects of midlife health. Her ‘Living with Menopause’ content is approachable and positive, helping you focus on what supports your body and mind while being sensitive to practical, approachable advice. Through the app, you can access specialist menopause nurses, one-to-one chats, group sessions and trusted resources. Even if your workplace doesn’t yet provide it, Peppy is a brilliant example of how menopause support is evolving—bringing expert help directly to women via their phones.
10. The Latte Lounge
Founded by Katie Taylor, The Latte Lounge is a supportive community on Facebook of over 20,000 women, sharing everything from personal stories to expert advice. We especially love Katie’s recently published book, Midlife Matters.
