Why our community inspires us!

Our Jude & Friends community is a supportive and inclusive community of women who offer advice, fun and tips for those living with bladder weakness. Today we share one story from the community that inspires us!

We love our Jude & Friends community because it provides us with endless positive and inspiring stories. It has seen rapid growth with new members joining daily but the ethos has stayed the same- nothing is taboo, everything can be shared and the environment is safe and welcoming. In 2022 one of our community members Jo Yabsley decided that she wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. She wasn't going to let having a weak bladder put her off and our community joined in with the challenge on Facebook. For every 10.000 steps that members recorded Jude donated £1 to the Alzheimers charity.

Jo, aged 57, and a retired mental health nurse, decided to embark on the challenge because her father had been diagnosed with dementia. She wanted to do something to show her support for him and others going through similar experiences.

One of the things that Jo was worried about however was getting up to go to the toilet in the night and as she told 'Woman,' magazine in an interview: 'I was panicking about going to the toilet at night especially as altitude and the tablets you take to combat it can make those trips more frequent. But thankfully I found Jude's bladder- strength supplements.'

Jo found Jude's supplements helpful and didn't let her worries take over. In a post she shared in the community she said- 'I slept out in the tent last night and didn't need the loo at all! I was delighted!'

In the end she didn't quite make it right to the top of Kilimanjaro (this time!) but the challenge has made her hungry to try new adventures out in the future: 'I am proud of myself and so is Dad. We raised £1,600. These challenges are addictive.'

Jo provided regular updates to the rest of the community with her progress and the event provided an inspiring experience for all. The core lesson being that that whatever your age, whatever bladder issues you may be experiencing, there is no limit to the things you can achieve.
